NFT Blacktip Reef Shark Shallow Reef

Amazing Carcharhinus melanopterus

The Blacktip Reef Shark (Carcharhinus melanopterus) is usually very shy and never comes close but this one is swimming by very closely.

These Sharks can be easily identified by the prominent black tips on their fins (especially on the first dorsal fin and its caudal fin).

The blacktip reef shark Carcharhinus melanopterus is usually found over reef ledges and sandy flats, though it has also been known to enter brackish environments.

It typically grows to a length of 1.6 m (5.2 ft).

As a near threatened species on the IUCN Red list it is important to protect not only this shark but all sharks. Our Marine Life Conservation Organization does exactly that!
