Large-Toothed Cardinalfish

The large-toothed cardinalfish can reach a maximum size of 25 cm in length.

It is a mouthbrooder.

The greyish mass you can see in his mouth are his eggs if you look closely and zoom in you can see the eyes of each embryo too. The male is starving until the eggs hatch. He can’t eat with the eggs in his mouth.
Tiger Cardinal Fish males incubate their eggs inside their mouths, as the egg masses increase in size they can be found with wide open mouths where they shift the eggs around to aerate the egg masses.
